Information Literacy in EFL

When we’re doing reference interviews and consultations in the library, teaching information literacy is built into the process.  The processes and procedures we teach students to use are built into how we work.

From my perspective, there is little need for specific information literacy instruction at the beginning levels of instruction in EFL. What is needed is to build good information literacy skills into the curriculum at those beginning levels.

This is not an area where Librarians should be teaching classes or doing more than basic presentations. I think our focus should be on the teachers of early stage EFL classes.
